Lakino enables the encounter and exchange of film makers and serves as a platform for the screening and funding of films from and about Latin America. Since 2010, Lakino is the most important Latin American film festival in Berlin. In the category "Official Competition", an international jury awards a price to the best film every year.
Berlin's arts scene is cosmopolitan and vibrant. More than 10.000 artists live and work here. It is an energetic city, that constantly reinvents itself and where various film festivals have been established. It is in this context that we believe it to be enriching to introduce another festival that gives an insight into Latin American cinematography and presents productions dealing with Latin America.
On an international level, Lakino supports Latin American film through conferences, themed exhibitions, and collaborations with other festivals. Moreover, it connects with representatives of cultural institutions to establish a constant dialogue and partnerships.
