¿Es posible hacer autobiografía incluyendo la propia muerte? El escritor y cineasta brasileño João Paulo Cuenca es el juego que nos propone. Un juego en el que entró obligado cuando en 2011 recibió la sorprendente noticia de un fallecimiento con su identidad. La resurrección aquí funciona a la inversa: alguien roba el nombre de un vivo para morir por él, pero ¿quién es ese alguien? Cuenca se lanza entonces a una búsqueda policiaca donde él hace de detective de sí mismo. Llamadas extrañas, pistas falsas y una misteriosa mujer que aparece y se va. La ficción y el thriller están servidos en bandeja de realidad. Si uno escribe el guion de su propia vida, acaba irremediablemente protagonizándola. Incluida la muerte.

Is it possible to write an autobiography including one’s own death? This is the game that the Brazilian writer and filmmaker, João Paulo Cuenca, proposes. A game into which he was forced to play when he received the surprising news of the death of his own identity in 2011. Here, the resurrection works the other way round: someone steals the name of a living person to die for him, but who is that someone? Cuenca throws himself into a police search in which he plays the detective of himself. Strange calls, false clues and a mysterious woman who appears and disappears. The fiction and the thriller are served on a tray of reality. If one writes the script of one’s own life, he/she inevitably ends up starring in it. Even in the death.

Ist es möglich, eine Autobiographie zu schreiben, die den eigenen Tod beinhaltet? Dies ist das Spiel, das der brasilianische Schriftsteller und Filmemacher João Paulo Cuenca vorschlägt. Ein Spiel, das er sich gezwungen sieht zu spielen, als er 2008 die überraschende Nachricht seines eigenen Todes erhält. Hier funktioniert die Auferstehung andersrum: jemand stiehlt die Identität einer lebenden Person, um für sie zu sterben – aber wer ist dieser jemand? Cuenca begibt sich auf eine abenteuerliche Suche, bei der er selber den Detektiv spielt. Seltsame Anrufe, falsche Fährten und eine mysteriöse Frau, die kommt und geht – Fiktion und Thriller vermischen sich mit der Realität. Wer das Drehbuch seines eigenen Lebens schreibt, kann nicht vermeiden auch die Hauptrolle zu spielen. Den Tod eingeschlossen.
