El padre del Elder Mamani ha muerto, y parece como si no le importara. Sigue chupando en los karaokes, en las calles y metiéndose en problemas. Pero ya nadie quiere hacerse cargo de él. Lo único que le queda es la casa de su abuela en las afueras del pueblo minero. Allá no va a tener cómo ni con quién cañarse. Su tío Francisco, que es también su padrino, tiene que cargar con él, le da una mano, le consigue un trabajo en la mina. Pero a Elder parece que no le interesa nada, todo el tiempo la está cagando cuando palea con su padrino, se pierde en la oscuridad, no trabaja. De todas formas ahí dentro se ha enterado de historias oscuras de su tío. No es tan inocente, dicen, como parece. Hay que saber arreglárselas en medio de este laberinto, en medio de este lugar oscuro y desconocido, donde todos son otros. Medio tocados. Por la luz de la muerte.

El padre de Elder Mamani has died, but he doesn’t seem to care. He still drinks in the karaoke bars, in the streets and gets himself into trouble. But no one wants to look after him any more. His only option is his grandfather’s house on the edge of the mining town. There he’ll have nothing and no one to get melted with. His uncle Francisco, who is also his godfather, has to take him in, giving him a hand and getting him a job down the mine. But Elder doesn’t seem interested in anything, he spends his time swearing as he shovels alongside his godfather, getting lost in the darkness and not working. Anyway, in there he’s heard dark stories about his uncle. They say he’s not as innocent as he seems. You’ve got to know how to get by in this maze, in this dark, unfamiliar place, where everyone’s a stranger. Half mad. It’s the death light that does it.

Der Vater von Elder Mamani ist gestorben, aber es sieht so aus, als ob dies den jungen Elder nicht im Geringsten bekümmern würde, auch wenn er nun niemanden mehr hat, der sich um ihn sorgt. Er wird von seiner Großmutter aufgenommen, die in einem Außenbezirk der Bergbaustadt Huanuni wohnt. Sein Patenonkel Francisco bietet ihm eine Arbeitsstelle im Bergwerk an. Aber es dauert nicht lange und Elder vermasselt es, weil es ihm wichtiger ist, high zu werden und nachts in gefährlichen Straßen herumzulungern. Bald stößt er jedoch auf ein düsteres Geheimnis. Es betrifft Franciscos Verstrickung in den Tod seines Vaters.
